Sunan Abi Dawud 3532 (Book 24, Hadith 117) #23822
Taking Necessary Provisions from Husband's Property

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Hind, the mother of Mu'awiyah, to take what she needs from her husband's property in order to provide for herself and her children.

Narrated 'Aishah: Hind, the mother of Mu'awiyah, came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'Abu Sufyan is a stingy person. He does not give me as much (money) as suffices me and my children. Is there any harm to me if I take something from his property ? He said: Take as much as suffices you and your children according to the custom.

This hadith teaches us that it is permissible for a wife to take necessary provisions from their husband’s property if they are not providing enough money or resources for themselves and their children.
