Warning of Afflictions in Medina

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) saw numerous spots of afflictions amongst the houses of Medina and warned them about it.

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Once the Prophet stood at the top of one of the castles (or higher buildings) of Medina and said, "Do you see what I see? No doubt I am seeing the spots of afflictions amongst your houses as numerous as the spots where raindrops fall (during a heavy rain).
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ أَشْرَفَ النَّبِيُّ عَلَى أُطُمٍ مِنْ آطَامِ الْمَدِينَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ هَلْ تَرَوْنَ مَا أَرَى إِنِّي أَرَى مَوَاقِعَ الْفِتَنِ خِلاَلَ بُيُوتِكُمْ كَمَوَاقِعِ الْقَطْرِ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was standing on top of one of the castles or higher buildings in Medina when he saw numerous spots that looked like raindrops falling during a heavy rain. He then warned the people living there about these spots which were signs of afflictions. This hadith is a reminder to us that we should always be aware and mindful of our actions as Allah can send down afflictions at any time if we are not careful with our deeds. We should strive to do good deeds and stay away from sins so that we can protect ourselves from any harm or punishment from Allah.
