Be careful when making promises/vows

This hadith explains that making a vow has no effect on one's fate, and is only done by those who are miserly. A vow is an oath or promise made to God, usually in exchange for something desired or hoped for. In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explains that making a vow does not change one's destiny; it will not make something happen if it was already predetermined to occur, nor will it prevent something from happening if it was already predetermined to occur. Furthermore, the Prophet ﷺ states that vows are only made by those who are miserly; they make promises in order to get what they want without having to pay for it. This hadith teaches us that we should be careful when making vows and promises as they do not have any power over our destiny and can lead us into being stingy with our money or possessions.
