Swearing an Oath by Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) swore an oath by Allah, using the title "Abul Qasim" for Him.

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: When the Messenger of Allah swore an oath strongly, he said: No, by Him in Whose hand is the soul of Abul Qasim.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ شُمَيْخٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ ‏:‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِذَا اجْتَهَدَ فِي الْيَمِينِ قَالَ ‏:‏ ‏ "‏ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ بِيَدِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of swearing an oath. It was narrated by AbuSa'id al-Khudri that when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) swore an oath strongly, he said "No, by Him in Whose hand is the soul of Abul Qasim". This phrase is a way to swear an oath to emphasize its importance and seriousness. It shows us that we should take our promises and commitments seriously and not break them lightly. We should also be careful when making promises or taking on commitments as we are accountable for them before Allah SWT.
