Sitting on Burning Coals vs Sitting on a Grave

SUMMARY: It is better to sit on burning coals than to sit on a grave.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah as saying: It is better that one of you should sit on the live coals which burns his clothing and come in contact with his skin than that he should sit on a grave.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect graves by not sitting or standing upon them. Seek guidance from Allah when making decisions about how you interact with others including those who have passed away.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah and it talks about the importance of respecting graves. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that it is better for someone to sit on burning coals which will burn their clothing and come in contact with their skin than for them to sit on a grave. This hadith teaches us the importance of respecting graves and not sitting or standing upon them as this can be disrespectful. We should also remember that those who are buried in the graves have passed away and we should treat them with respect as we would want our own loved ones to be treated when they pass away. We should also remember that Allah knows best what is right and wrong so we must always seek His guidance when making decisions about how we interact with others, including those who have passed away.
