Cultivating Barren Land

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that if someone brings barren land into cultivation, they have the right to it and no one can take it away from them unjustly.

Narrated Sa'id ibn Zayd: The Prophet said: If anyone brings barren land into cultivation, it belongs to him, and the unjust vein has no right.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَيْتَةً فَهِيَ لَهُ وَلَيْسَ لِعِرْقٍ ظَالِمٍ حَقٌّ
