Sunan Abi Dawud 3020 (Book 20, Hadith 93) #23310
Consideration for Last Muslims

SUMMARY: Umar was considering the last Muslim when he decided not to divide a town he conquered as the Prophet had done with Khaibar.

'Umar said "Had I not considered the last Muslim, I would have any town I conquered divided as the Apostle of Allaah had divided Khaibar".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful before making decisions which could affect others negatively; Consider those who are weaker or less fortunate than you; Think carefully before taking action which may harm others; Show compassion towards all people regardless of their power or status .

EXPLANATIONS:
Umar ibn Al-Khattab was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and one of his closest advisors. He was known for his wisdom and justice, and this hadith is an example of that. In it, Umar is discussing how he would have divided a town he conquered if it weren't for considering the last Muslim in that town. This shows us that even in times of war or conquest, we should always consider those who are weaker or less fortunate than us. We should never forget about them or neglect their rights just because they are not as powerful as we are. This hadith also teaches us to be mindful of our actions and think carefully before making decisions that could affect others negatively.
