Sharing Possessions with Muslims

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ divided his possessions into two halves, one for himself and the other for the Muslims in case of any calamity or emergent needs.

Bashir bin Yasar said that he heard a number of the Companions of the Prophet say. He then narrated the tradition (mentioned above). He said "One half comprised the portions of the Muslims and the portion of the Apostle of Allaah. He separated the other half for the Muslims for any calamity that befalls him and for emergent needs".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the generosity and compassion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He divided his possessions into two halves, one half was kept by him and the other half was given to the Muslims in case of any calamity or emergent needs. This shows us how generous he was towards others even when he had very little himself. It also teaches us that we should be generous with our wealth and share it with those who are less fortunate than us. We should also be compassionate towards others and help them out whenever we can.
