Sunan Abi Dawud 2866 (Book 18, Hadith 5) #23156
The Value of Giving Charity During Life

SUMMARY: Giving charity during one's life is better than giving a large amount of charity at the moment of death.

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: The Prophet said: A man giving a dirham as sadaqah (charity) during his life is better than giving one hundred Dirhams as sadaqah (charity) at the moment of his death.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give regular donations throughout your life for greater reward in this world and hereafter.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of giving charity during one's life rather than waiting until death. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that it is better to give a small amount in charity while alive than to give a large sum at the time of death. This hadith encourages us to think about our own mortality and how we can use our resources for good while we are still alive. It also teaches us that even small acts can have great rewards in this world and the hereafter. We should strive to make charitable donations regularly throughout our lives so that we can reap its benefits both now and in the afterlife.
