QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic teachings and avoid things which are forbidden so that one can maximize their rewards in the hereafter.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that it is forbidden to keep dogs as pets, unless they are used for specific purposes such as hunting, herding sheep or guarding farms. If someone does keep a dog for any other purpose than these three, then their reward will be reduced by one qirat each day. A qirat is an amount of reward given to people in the afterlife based on their good deeds in this life. Therefore, it is important to remember that if we do something wrong or forbidden in Islam then our rewards will be reduced and we may not receive the same blessings from Allah SWT that we would have otherwise received. This hadith teaches us the importance of following Islamic teachings and avoiding things which are forbidden so that we can maximize our rewards in the hereafter.
