Killing of Dogs

SUMMARY: Dogs should not be killed unless they are black.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mughaffal: The Prophet said: Were dogs not a species of creature I should command that they all be killed; but kill every pure black one.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لَوْلاَ أَنَّ الْكِلاَبَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الأُمَمِ لأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا فَاقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا الأَسْوَدَ الْبَهِيمَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that dogs should not be killed unless they are black. This is because dogs can be beneficial to humans in many ways such as providing companionship and protection. However, if a dog is pure black then it may pose a threat to people and so it should be killed. This hadith teaches us the importance of being compassionate towards animals while also taking necessary precautions for our safety.
