Hunting and Eating Hares Permitted

SUMMARY: The narrator asked the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) if it was permissible to eat two hares he had hunted and slaughtered with a flint, and the Prophet gave him permission.

Narrated Muhammad ibn Safwan or Safwan ibn Muhammad: I hunted two hares and slaughtered them with a flint. I asked the Messenger of Allah about them. He permitted me to eat them.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الْوَاحِدِ بْنَ زِيَادٍ، وَحَمَّادًا، حَدَّثَاهُمْ - الْمَعْنَى، وَاحِدٌ، - عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ، أَوْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ اصَّدْتُ أَرْنَبَيْنِ فَذَبَحْتُهُمَا بِمَرْوَةٍ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَنْهُمَا فَأَمَرَنِي بِأَكْلِهِمَا
