Have good intentions when engaging in any activity

This hadith speaks to the importance of having the right intentions when engaging in jihad or fighting. It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As, who asked Prophet Muhammad about jihad and fighting. The Prophet replied that if one fights with endurance seeking from Allah their reward, Allah will resurrect them showing endurance and seeking their reward from Him. However, if one fights for vain show seeking to acquire much, Allah will resurrect them making a vain show and seeking to acquire much. In whatever state they fight or are killed in, Allah will resurrect them as such. This hadith teaches us that it is important to have good intentions when engaging in any activity so that we can be rewarded for our efforts by God Almighty. We should not engage in activities just for show or out of pride but rather strive to do our best with sincerity so that we can be rewarded accordingly by God Almighty on Judgment Day.
