The Prophet's Increase in I'tikaf During Ramadan

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ used to observe I'tikaf for 10 days during Ramadan every year, but in the year he died, he observed it for 20 days.

Abu Hurairah said: The Prophet used to observe I'tikaf during ten days of Ramadan every year. But when the year in which he died, he observed I'tikaf for twenty days.
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ يَعْتَكِفُ كُلَّ رَمَضَانَ عَشَرَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ اعْتَكَفَ عِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet's practice of observing a retreat called I'tikaf during the month of Ramadan. Every year, he would observe this retreat for 10 days. However, in the last year of his life, he increased this practice and observed it for 20 days instead. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to increase our devotion and dedication to Allah even more as we approach our end times. It also shows us that we should be consistent with our religious practices and not let them slip away over time. We can learn from this hadith that if we are devoted to Allah and His teachings throughout our lives, He will reward us with an increase in faith at the end of it all.
