Fasting on Fridays

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to fast on Fridays unless one fasts the day before or after.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah as saying: None of you must fast on Friday unless he fasts the day before or the day after.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَصُمْ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَصُومَ قَبْلَهُ بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah and it talks about fasting on Fridays. According to the Prophet Muhammad, it is not permissible to fast only on a Friday unless one also fasts either the day before or the day after. This teaches us that we should be mindful of our religious obligations and practice moderation in all aspects of our lives. We should strive for balance between spiritual and worldly matters, as well as between physical and spiritual needs. Additionally, this hadith encourages us to be consistent in our worship so that we can reap its rewards both in this life and in the hereafter.
