Hastening to Break Fast and Pray

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's example of hastening to break the fast and pray.

Narrated Abu 'Atiyyah: I and Masruq entered upon 'Aishah and we said: Mother of believers, there are two persons from the Companions of the Muhammad . One of them hastens to break the fast and hastens to pray while the other delays to break the fast and delays praying. She asked: Which of them hastens to break the fast and hasten to pray ? We replied: 'Abd Allah (b. Mas'ud). She said: Thus did the Messenger of Allah do.

QUICK LESSONS:
Hasten to break your fast and pray on time during Ramadan .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident between two companions of the Prophet Muhammad, one who hastened to break his fast and pray, while the other delayed. When asked which one was which, they replied that it was 'Abd Allah b. Mas'ud who hastened in both activities. Aishah then confirmed that this is what the Messenger of Allah did as well. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to be like our beloved prophet by being prompt in breaking our fasts and praying on time. We should also remember that fasting is not just abstaining from food but also from bad deeds such as gossiping or backbiting so we can reap its full rewards during Ramadan.
