Adultery in Actions

SUMMARY: Every action of a person can be considered as an act of adultery.

Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet as saying " Every child of Adam has his share in adultery. He then narrated the rest of the tradition. This version goes "And the hands commit adultery; their adultery is catching; and the legs commit adultery; their adultery is walking; and the mouth commits adultery – its adultery is kissing".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the concept of zina or adultery. It explains that any action done by a person can be considered as an act of adultery. For example, if someone looks at something they should not look at with lustful eyes then it is considered as an act of adultery. Similarly if someone speaks words that are inappropriate then it is also considered as an act of adultery. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was teaching us to be mindful and aware of our actions and to always strive to do good deeds instead of bad ones. He was reminding us that even though we may not physically commit the sin itself but our thoughts and actions can still lead us down the wrong path which will ultimately result in punishment from Allah SWT on the Day Of Judgment. We must always strive to stay away from anything that could potentially lead us astray and instead focus on doing good deeds which will bring us closer to Allah SWT and His mercy.
