QUICK LESSONS:
Take responsibility for one’s actions; take action against wrongdoings instead of turning a blind eye towards them; deal swiftly and sternly with intoxication or drunkenness; do not condone such behavior among others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of dealing with intoxication and drunkenness. It is narrated by Uqba bin Al-Harith that when An-Nuaman or his son was brought in a state of drunkenness, Allah's Messenger ordered all those who were present in the house to beat him. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did not condone such behavior and wanted it to be punished accordingly. He ordered for those present at the time to beat him with shoes and palm-leaf stalks as punishment for his actions. This hadith teaches us that intoxication should not be taken lightly and must be dealt with swiftly and sternly so as not to encourage such behavior among others. It also serves as an example of how we should respond when faced with similar situations - we must take action against it instead of turning a blind eye towards it.
