Prohibiting Taking Finds of Pilgrims

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) prohibited taking the find of pilgrims and advised to leave it until its owner finds it.

'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Uthman al-Taime said: The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) prohibited taking the find of pilgrims. Ibn Wahb said : One should leave the find of a pilgrim till its owner finds it.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ لُقَطَةِ الْحَاجِّ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَحْمَدُ قَالَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ يَعْنِي فِي لُقَطَةِ الْحَاجِّ يَتْرُكُهَا حَتَّى يَجِدَهَا صَاحِبُهَا قَالَ ابْنُ مَوْهَبٍ عَنْ عَمْرٍو

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of taking finds from pilgrims. The Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) advised that one should not take any finds from a pilgrim and instead should leave it until its owner finds it. This hadith teaches us to be honest and not take advantage of others in need. It also teaches us to be generous and help those who are in need by leaving their belongings for them so they can find them again. We should also remember that Allah will reward us for our good deeds if we are honest and generous towards others.
