Taking Care of Stray Animals

SUMMARY: The Prophet (SAWS) taught that if one finds a stray sheep, they should take it and keep it until its owner comes to claim it.

The above mentioned tradition has also been narrated by 'Amr bin Shu’aib from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet (SAWS) to the same effect. This version has: regarding the stray sheep he said: Take it (and keep it with you) till its seeker comes to it.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ بِهَذَا ‏.‏ قَالَ فِي ضَالَّةِ الشَّاءِ ‏ "‏ فَاجْمَعْهَا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهَا بَاغِيهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about responsibility and taking care of others. It is important to be responsible for our actions and help those in need. In this case, the Prophet SAWS taught us that if we find a stray animal, we should take care of it until its owner comes to claim it. We must show kindness and compassion towards all living things by taking responsibility for them when needed. This hadith also teaches us about hayaa or modesty which is an important Islamic value. We must always strive to act with modesty in all aspects of our lives so that we can be good examples for others around us.
