Taking Ownership of Stray Animals

SUMMARY: Taking ownership of a stray animal is encouraged.

The aforesaid tradition has also been transmitted by 'Amr bin Shu’aib through a different chain of narrators. This version has: He said about the stray sheep: You, your brother or the wolf may have them. Do take it. A similar version has been transmitted by Ayyub and Ya’qub bin 'Ata from 'Amr bin Shu’aid from the Propher (SWAS). He said : then take it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take ownership of a stray animal when found

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages us to take ownership of stray animals that we come across. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if you find a stray animal then it should be taken by either you, your brother or the wolf. This hadith teaches us to be kind and generous towards animals as well as our brothers and sisters in faith. It also teaches us to take responsibility for our actions and not leave things in an uncertain state such as leaving a stray animal without taking care of it or knowing who will take care of it. We should always strive to do what is best for all creatures on this earth regardless if they are human or non-human.
