Sunan Abi Dawud 1257 (Book 5, Hadith 8) #21549
Praying with Beauty and Grace

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Bilal informing the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about the dawn prayer and how he was kept busy by Aisha. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) then said that if the dawn became brighter, he would pray them in a more beautiful manner.

Narrated Bilal: Ziyadah al-Kindi reported on the authority of Bilal that he (Bilal) came to the Messenger of Allah to inform him about the dawn prayer. Aisha kept Bilal engaged in a matter which she asked him till the day was bright and it became fairly light. Bilal then stood up and called him to prayer and called him repeatedly. The Messenger of Allah did not yet come out. When he came out, he led the people in prayer and he (Bilal) informed him that Aisha had kept him engaged in a matter which she asked him till it became fairly light; hence he became late in reaching him (in time). He (Bilal) said: Messenger of Allah, the dawn became fairly bright. He said: If the dawn became brighter than it is now, I would pray them (the two rak'ahs of the sunnah prayer), offer them well and in a more beautiful manner.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray with beauty and grace no matter what time of day or how tired you may feel at that moment . Be mindful and aware of your actions as they can affect others around you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of praying with beauty and grace. It is narrated by Bilal ibn Rabah who came to inform Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about the dawn prayer. However, Aisha kept him busy until it was bright outside. When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ finally came out to lead people in prayer, he said that if it were brighter outside he would have prayed them in a more beautiful manner. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to pray with beauty and grace no matter what time of day it is or how tired we may be feeling at that moment. We should also remember to be mindful of our actions as they can affect others around us; in this case Aisha's actions caused Bilal to be late for his duty which could have been avoided if she had been aware of her surroundings earlier on.
