Reciting Takbir in Prayers on Special Occasions

SUMMARY: The hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite the Takbir in prayers on special occasions.

Abu 'Aishah said: Sa'id b. al-'As asked Abu Musa al-Ash'ari and Hudhaifah b. al-Yaman: How would the Messenger of Allah utter the takbir (Allah is most great) in the prayer of the day of sacrifice and of the breaking of the fast. Abu Musa said: He uttered takbir four times as he did at funerals. Hudhaifah said: He is correct. Then Abu Musa said: I used to utter the takbir in a similar way when I was the governor of Basrah. Abu 'Aishah said: I was present there when Sa'id b. al-'As asked.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite the takbir or ‘Allah is most great’ during his prayers on special occasions such as Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr. It was narrated by Abu 'Aishah who was present when Sa'id b. al-'As asked Abu Musa al-Ash'ari and Hudhaifah b. al-Yaman about it. They both confirmed that he would say it four times, similar to what he did at funerals. This shows us that we should take part in religious activities with enthusiasm and joy, even if they are related to sad events like funerals. We should also remember Allah often during our daily lives, especially during special occasions like Eid days or other celebrations of faith.
