Permissible Drink According to Umar bin Al-Khattab

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the drink that Umar bin Al-Khattab regarded as permissible.

It was narrated that Dawud said: "I asked Sa'eed: 'What is the drink that 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, regarded as permissible?' He said: 'That which has been cooked until two-third has gone and one-third is left'."
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ سَعِيدًا مَا الشَّرَابُ الَّذِي أَحَلَّهُ عُمَرُ رضى الله عنه قَالَ الَّذِي يُطْبَخُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثَاهُ وَيَبْقَى ثُلُثُهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about a drink that was permissible according to Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. It was narrated by Dawud who asked Sa'eed what the drink was that Umar bin Al-Khattab regarded as permissible. Sa'eed replied that it was a drink which has been cooked until two thirds of it has gone and one third is left. This means that the drink should not be too hot or too cold, but just right in order for it to be considered halal or permissible according to Islamic teachings.
