Prohibiting Certain Containers for Storing Liquids

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) forbade the use of certain containers for storing liquids.

It was narrated from Jabir that: The Messenger of Allah SAW forbade Ad-Dubba' (gourds), An-Naqir, earthenware jars, and Al-Muzaffat.
أَخْبَرَنَا سَوَّارُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، رضى الله عنه أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْجَرِّ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of certain containers for storing liquids. According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prohibited four types of containers which are Ad-Dubba', An-Naqir, earthenware jars and Al-Muzaffat. These containers were not suitable for storing liquids as they were made from materials that could contaminate or spoil the liquid stored in them. This hadith teaches us to be mindful when it comes to choosing a container to store our food or drinks in order to ensure its safety and quality. We should also be aware that there are certain things which have been prohibited by Allah's Messenger so we should avoid them at all costs. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as a reminder that we should always strive to follow the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad in order to gain Allah's pleasure and blessings.
