Unlawfulness of Nabidh Made in Certain Containers

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the unlawfulness of Nabidh made in earthenware jars, Al-Hantam, Ad-Dubba', Al-Muzaffat and An-Naqir.

It was narrated that Abu Raja' said: "I asked Al-Hasan about Nabidh made in earthenware jars - is it unlawful? He said: '(It is) unlawful. One who would not lie narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah SAW forbade Nabidh made in Al-Hantam, Ad-Dubba' (gourds), Al-Muzaffat and An-Naqir'."
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الْحَسَنَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ، أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ قَالَ حَرَامٌ قَدْ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْ لَمْ يَكْذِبْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْحَنْتَمِ وَالدُّبَّاءِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ وَالنَّقِيرِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Abu Raja’ who asked Hasan ibn Ali about the lawfulness of making Nabidh in earthenware jars. Hasan ibn Ali replied that it is unlawful as it was narrated to them that Prophet Muhammad forbade making Nabidh in certain containers such as al Hantam, ad Dubba’, al Muzaffat and an Naqir. The Prophet Muhammad taught us to be mindful of what we consume and how we consume it. He also taught us to be aware of our actions and their consequences on our health and wellbeing. We should always strive to follow his teachings so that we can lead a healthy life both physically and spiritually.
