Prohibiting Intoxicants and Soaking Fruits

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prohibited the soaking of fruits in certain containers and declared all intoxicants unlawful.

It was narrated from 'Aishah that: The Prophet SAW said: "Do not soak (fruits) in Ad-Dubba', An-Naqir, Al-Hantam, and every intoxicant is unlawful".
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ زَبْرٍ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَنْبِذُوا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ وَلاَ الْمُزَفَّتِ وَلاَ النَّقِيرِ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ

This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, teaches us that it is forbidden to soak fruits in certain containers such as Ad-Dubba', An-Naqir, and Al-Hantam. Additionally, it also informs us that all types of intoxicants are unlawful. This means that any type of substance or drink which causes intoxication or drunkenness is not allowed according to Islamic teachings. It is important for Muslims to remember this teaching so they can stay away from any type of intoxicating substances or drinks which can lead them astray from their faith. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as a reminder for Muslims to be mindful when consuming food items as some may contain ingredients which are not permissible according to Islamic teachings.
