Sunan an-Nasai 5541 (Book 51, Hadith 2) #20073
Prohibition of Alcohol in Islam

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a man informing Anas bin Malik that Khamr (alcohol) has been forbidden, and Anas pouring away the Fadikh (date-wine) he was serving to his uncles.

Anas bin Malik said: "While I was taking care of a group of people, including my paternal uncles, and I was the youngest of them, a man came and said: 'Khamr has been forbidden'. I was taking care of them, and was pouring Fadikh (date-wine) for them. They said: 'Pour it away'. So I poured it away". I (the narrator) said to Anas: "What is that?" He said: "Unripe dates and dried dates". Abu Bakr bin Anas said: "That was their wine in those days". And Anas did not deny that.

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah's commands quickly when informed about them .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of alcohol in Islam. It tells us that when Anas bin Malik was taking care of a group of people, including his paternal uncles, a man came and informed them that Khamr has been forbidden. As soon as they heard this news, they asked him to pour away the Fadikh which was date-wine made from either unripe dates or dried dates. This shows us how seriously Muslims take the prohibition of alcohol in their religion and how quickly they act upon it when informed about it. It also teaches us to be obedient to Allah's commands and not disobey them even if we are unaware of them beforehand.
