Seeking Refuge from the Evil Eye

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to seek refuge from the evil eye of both humans and jinn, and when Al-Mu'awwadhatan were revealed, he started to recite them instead.

It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW used to seek refuge from the evil eye of the Jinn and the evil eye of humans. When Al-Mu'awwadhatan were revealed, he started to recite them and stopped reciting anything else".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of seeking protection from the evil eye of both humans and jinn. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to recite certain verses known as Al-Mu’awwadhatan in order to protect himself from any harm or danger. These verses are found in Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas in the Quran, which are two chapters that speak about seeking refuge with Allah against all forms of evil. This hadith teaches us that we should always seek protection with Allah against any form of harm or danger, whether it be physical or spiritual. It also reminds us that we should always be mindful of our words and actions so as not to cause harm or distress upon others unintentionally.
