Seeking Refuge in Allah from Possession and Sickness

SUMMARY: This hadith is about seeking refuge in Allah from possession, leprosy, leucoderma and bad sickness.

It was narrated from Anas that: The Prophet SAW used to say: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-jununi wal-jadhami, wal-barasi wa sayy'il-asqam (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from possession, leprosy, leucoderma and bad sickness (that may lead to visible deformity)".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُنُونِ وَالْجُذَامِ وَالْبَرَصِ وَسَيِّيءِ الأَسْقَامِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Anas ibn Malik, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ taught us to seek refuge in Allah from possession, leprosy, leucoderma and bad sickness. By seeking refuge in Allah we are asking Him for protection against these illnesses that can cause physical deformity or pain. We should remember that only He has the power to protect us from harm and illness. We should also remember that He is All-Knowing and All-Merciful so we can trust Him to provide us with whatever protection we need.
