Dress modestly without being ostentatious or proud

In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned against dragging one's garment out of pride. Umm Salamah asked what women should do with their hems, to which the Prophet replied that they should let it down a hand span or forearm's length, but no more than that. This hadith teaches us about modesty and humility in dress; it is important to dress modestly without being ostentatious or proud. We must remember not to be boastful about our clothing as Allah will not look upon those who are proud. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as an example for how we should ask questions; Umm Salamah asked her question respectfully and was given an answer by the Prophet himself. We can learn from her example on how we should approach religious matters with respect and humility.
