Forbidden Clothing and Recitation of Qur'an

SUMMARY: It is forbidden to wear red garments, gold rings, and recite Qur'an while bowing.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "I was forbidden to wear red garments and gold rings, and to recite Qur'an when bowing".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ نُهِيتُ عَنِ الثَّوْبِ الأَحْمَرِ، وَخَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ، وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ،

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the things that are forbidden for Muslims to do. According to this hadith, it is not permissible for a Muslim to wear red garments or gold rings or recite the Quran while bowing in prayer. Wearing red garments and gold rings are seen as signs of arrogance and pride which goes against Islamic teachings. Similarly, reciting the Quran while bowing in prayer can be seen as a form of showmanship which also goes against Islamic teachings. The main idea behind this hadith is that Muslims should not be proud or boastful but instead humble themselves before Allah when they pray. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to be humble in our actions and words so that we can please Allah with our deeds.
