EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibitions of wearing certain clothing and accessories. It was narrated from 'Abidah, from 'Ali that he said that it is forbidden to wear red al Mayathir, al Qassi and gold rings. Red al Mayathir are a type of clothing made out of wool or cotton fabric with a patterned design. Similarly, al Qassi are also a type of clothing made out of wool or cotton fabric with a patterned design but they have more intricate designs than red al Mayathir. Lastly gold rings are also prohibited in this hadith as they were considered to be an accessory for luxury purposes only at the time when this hadith was narrated. This hadith teaches us to stay away from extravagance in our dressing style as it can lead us astray from our religious obligations and values. We should dress modestly according to Islamic teachings so that we can focus on our spiritual growth rather than materialistic things like clothes or accessories which do not benefit us in any way spiritually speaking.
