Sunan an-Nasai 5104 (Book 48, Hadith 65) #19636
Cursing of Unlawful Practices

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) cursed those who consume Riba, pay it, write it down, witness it, do tattoos or have them done for non-medical reasons, marry a woman to divorce her so she can go back to her first husband and the man who withholds Sadaqah (Zakah). He also forbade wailing in mourning.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Awn, from Ash-Sha'bi, from Al-Harith, who said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW cursed the one who consumes Riba, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the one who witnesses it; the woman who does tattoos and the woman who has that done"- he said: "Unless it is done as a remedy;" he said: "Yes"- "the man who married a woman in order to divorce her so that she may go back to her first husband and the man (the first husband) for whom that is done; and the one who withholds Sadaqah (Zakah). And he used to forbid wailing (in mourning), but he did not say 'cursed'"

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith narrated by Ibn 'Awn from Ash-Sha'bi from Al-Harith, the Prophet Muhammad cursed those who engage in unlawful practices such as consuming usury or interest known as riba in Arabic; paying riba; writing down riba; witnessing riba; doing tattoos or having them done for non-medical reasons; marrying a woman to divorce her so she can go back to her first husband and the man who withholds charity known as sadaqah or zakat. He also forbade wailing in mourning but did not curse those who do so. This hadith teaches us that we should stay away from any unlawful practices and instead focus on doing good deeds such as giving charity and helping others. We should also remember that Allah is watching our every action and will reward us accordingly for our good deeds while punishing us for our bad ones.
