Washing Hands and Face with Water

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) washed his hands and face in a tumbler of water and threw a mouthful of water in it.

Narrated Abu Musa: Once the Prophet asked for a tumbler containing water. He washed his hands and face in it and also threw a mouthful of water in it.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بُرَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ دَعَا بِقَدَحٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ فِيهِ وَمَجَّ فِيهِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Abu Musa tells us about the importance of cleanliness, which is known as Taharah in Arabic. It is reported that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ washed his hands and face with a tumbler full of water, then he threw a mouthful of water into it. This shows us how important it is to keep ourselves clean at all times, both physically and spiritually. We should also take care to use only clean water for our ablutions or wudu before performing any religious rituals such as prayer or fasting. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that we should be mindful when using resources like water since they are precious gifts from Allah SWT that must be used responsibly.
