The Commandment to Fight for Beliefs

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was commanded to fight people until they accept the two fundamental beliefs of Islam, and if they do, then their blood and wealth are protected.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that: The Messenger of Allah SAW said: "I have been commanded to fight the people until they bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. If they bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, they turn to face the same Qiblah as us, they eat our slaughtered animals, and they pray as we pray; then their blood and their wealth are forbidden to us, except for a right that is due, and they have the same rights and duties as the Muslims".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the commandment given by Allah to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to fight those who do not believe in Him or His messenger. It is important for Muslims to protect their faith and spread it among others. If someone accepts the two fundamental beliefs of Islam - that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger - then their blood and wealth are protected from harm. They also have the same rights as Muslims such as praying towards the same direction as them and eating animals slaughtered in a certain way. In addition, they must fulfill all duties expected from a Muslim such as fasting during Ramadan or giving charity. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for justice while protecting our faith at all times.
