EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of fulfilling vows. It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar that Umar asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about a vow he made during the pre Islamic period of ignorance, to stay in I'tikaf for one night in Al Masjid al Haram. The Prophet ﷺ advised him to fulfill his vow and this shows us how important it is to keep our promises and commitments, even if they were made before we accepted Islam. We should always strive to be honest and trustworthy people who keep their word no matter what. This hadith also teaches us that we should not make any promises or commitments lightly as we must be prepared to fulfill them when the time comes.
