QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic laws regarding punishments for theft

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that stealing is not allowed in Islam and if someone does steal, they will be punished by having their hand cut off. The punishment must be done according to Islamic law, which states that the price of a shield should be used as a measure for how much should be stolen before this punishment can take place. In this case, it was one-quarter of a Dinar. This hadith also teaches us about justice and fairness in punishments; it shows us that punishments must fit the crime committed and not go beyond what is necessary or justifiable. It also reminds us to stay away from stealing as it has serious consequences according to Islamic teachings.
