Looking Into Someone's House Without Permission

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to look into someone's house without their permission, and if they cause harm in response, there is no right to compensation.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "Whoever looks into a house without the permission of the occupants and they put out his eye, he has no right to blood money or retaliation".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَنِ اطَّلَعَ فِي بَيْتِ قَوْمٍ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِمْ فَفَقَئُوا عَيْنَهُ فَلاَ دِيَةَ لَهُ وَلاَ قِصَاصَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of respecting other people’s privacy. We should never enter someone’s house without their permission, even if it is just to take a peek inside. If we do so, we are not allowed to seek any form of compensation or retaliation if the occupants of the house cause us harm in response. This hadith also teaches us that we should always respect other people’s boundaries and privacy as it is an important part of being a good Muslim.
