The Virtue of Forgiveness

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad encouraged people to forgive and pardon each other instead of seeking revenge.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "No case requiring Qisas was ever brought to the Messenger of Allah but he would enjoin pardoning".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to forgive & pardon those who have wronged you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the virtue of forgiveness and pardoning others instead of seeking revenge. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik that no case requiring Qisas, which is a form of legal retribution in Islamic law, was ever brought to the Messenger of Allah but he would enjoin pardoning. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to forgive and pardon those who have wronged us, rather than seek revenge or retribution for our grievances. We should remember that Allah is the only one who can truly judge us and mete out justice accordingly; therefore, it is best for us to leave matters in His hands rather than take matters into our own hands.
