The Power of Forgiveness

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad encouraged people to forgive and pardon each other in cases of dispute.

It was narrated that Anas said: "A case requiring Qisas was brought to the Messenger of Allah and he enjoined them to pardon".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for forgiveness rather than revenge. Be merciful towards others.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of forgiveness and mercy. It was narrated by Anas ibn Malik that a case requiring Qisas (retaliation or punishment for a crime) was brought to the Prophet Muhammad, and he enjoined them to pardon instead. This teaches us that we should always strive for forgiveness rather than revenge, as it is more merciful and beneficial in the long run. We should also remember that Allah is Most Merciful, so we should strive to be like Him by being forgiving towards others.
