Slaughtering Animals According to Islamic Law

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad advised not to slaughter any animal except a Musinnah, unless it is difficult to find one, in which case a Jadh'ah sheep can be slaughtered.

It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not slaughter anything but a Musinnah, unless that is difficult, in which case you can slaughter a Jadh'ah sheep"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do not slaughter anything but a Musinnah if available

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught us that when we are sacrificing an animal, we should only sacrifice a healthy animal known as a Musinnah. If it is difficult to find such an animal, then we can sacrifice an unhealthy one known as a Jadh'ah. This hadith teaches us the importance of being mindful of our actions and how they affect other living creatures. It also reminds us that Allah has given us certain guidelines and laws that must be followed in order for our actions to be considered righteous and acceptable in His eyes.
