Hunting with Dogs - Saying Allah's Name

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that if one releases their dog to hunt and finds another dog with it, they should not eat the game as they did not say the name of Allah over any other dog.

It was narrated that 'Adiyy bin Hatim said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'I release my dog, and I find another dog with mine, and I do not know which mine, and I do not know which of them caught (the game)'. He said: 'do not eat it, for you said the name of Allah over your dog, but not over any other"".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about hunting with dogs. It is narrated by 'Adiyy bin Hatim who asked the Prophet Muhammad about what to do when he released his own dog to hunt and found another dog with it. The Prophet Muhammad advised him not to eat the game as he did not say the name of Allah over any other dog. This hadith teaches us that we should always remember to mention God's name before doing anything, even when hunting for food or recreation. We should also be mindful of our actions and take responsibility for them, as we are accountable for all our deeds in this life and in the hereafter.
