Sunan an-Nasai 4073 (Book 37, Hadith 108) #18606
The Power of Seriousness

SUMMARY: Abu Bakr was angry with one of his companions, but when Abu Barzah offered to kill him, the seriousness of his offer made Abu Bakr's anger subside.

It was narrated that Abu Barzah said: "I passed by Abu Bakr and he was furious with one of his companions. I said: 'O Khalifah of the Messenger of Allah, who is the one with whom you are furious?' He said: 'Why are you asking about him?' I said: 'I will strike his neck (kill him)'. By Allah, the seriousness of what I said took away his anger. Then he said: 'That is not for anyone after Muhammad SAW'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect authority and follow rules even if you don't agree with them . Use seriousness as a way to diffuse situations instead of resorting to violence or other extreme measures .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the power of seriousness and how it can be used to diffuse a situation. In this hadith, we learn that when Abu Barzah saw that Abu Bakr was angry with one of his companions, he offered to kill him in order to take away the anger. This shows us that sometimes being serious and taking a strong stance can help resolve an issue without any physical action being taken. We also learn from this hadith that no one should ever take matters into their own hands as it is not for anyone after Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This teaches us the importance of respecting authority and following rules even if we don't agree with them.
