Sunan an-Nasai 3958 (Book 36, Hadith 20) #18491
Drinking Honey at the House of Zainab bint Jahsh

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) drinking honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, and how Allah revealed a verse to him in response.

'Aishah said that the Messenger of Allah used to stay with Zainab bint Jahsh and drink honey at her house. Hafsah and I agreed that if the Prophet entered upon either of us, she would say: "I perceive the smell of Maghafir (a nasty-smelling gum) on you; have you eaten Maghafir?" He came in to one of them, and she said that to him. He said: "No, rather I drank honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, but I will never do it again". Then the following was revealed: 'O Prophet! Why do you forbid (for yourself) that which Allah has allowed to you'. 'If you two turn in repentance to Allah, (it will be better for you)' about 'Aishah and Hafsah, 'And (remember) when the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives' refers to him saying: "No, rather I drank honey".

QUICK LESSONS:
Do not forbid yourself from doing things which are permissible in Islam as long as they do not go against its teachings or principles; forgive others when they make mistakes instead of accusing them without proof or evidence; respect other people's privacy even if you have suspicions about their behavior; follow the teachings of Quran & Sunnah with sincerity & humility; seek repentance whenever you commit any sin knowingly or unknowingly .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Prophet Muhammad's visit to the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, where he drank honey. When he returned home, his wives Aishah and Hafsah noticed a strange smell on him and asked if he had eaten something called Maghafir. He denied it but admitted that he drank honey at Zainab's house. In response to this, Allah revealed a verse from the Quran which said that what Allah has allowed for Prophet Muhammad should not be forbidden by him. The verse also mentioned that if Aishah and Hafsah repented for their actions then it would be better for them. This hadith teaches us that we should not forbid ourselves from doing things which are permissible in Islam as long as they do not go against its teachings or principles. We should also remember to forgive others when they make mistakes instead of accusing them without proof or evidence.
