Making Oaths with the Will of Allah

SUMMARY: A person can make an oath and if they wish, they can go ahead with it or not without breaking their oath.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet said: "Whoever swears an oath and says: 'If Allah wills', then if he wishes he may go ahead, and if he wishes he may not, without having broken his oath".

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember that everything is in God's hands and put your trust in Him for all matters; Be mindful when making promises; Add "If Allah wills" at the end of your oathes .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about making an oath and how it should be done. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when a person makes an oath, they should add “if Allah wills” at the end. This means that if the person wishes to go ahead with what they have promised in their oath, then they may do so but if not, then their oath will still remain intact and unbroken. This teaches us to always remember that everything is in the hands of Allah and we must put our trust in Him for all matters. We must also be mindful when making promises as we are accountable for our words before Him.
