Gifts Belong to the Heir

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that gifts given for life belong to the heir.

It was narrated from Zaid bin Thabit that the Messenger of Allah said: "'Umra (a gift given for life) belongs to the heir".

QUICK LESSONS:
Abide by Islamic law when dealing with inheritance and gifts. Treat your families fairly and generously when passing on wealth after death.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that gifts given for life, known as ‘Umra, should be passed on to the heir. This means that if someone gives a gift of money or property with the intention of it being used by their family after they die, then it should go to their heirs. This is an important lesson in Islamic law and is something that Muslims must abide by when dealing with inheritance and gifts. It also teaches us about how we should treat our families and those who come after us; we must ensure that our wealth is passed on in a fair manner so as not to cause any disputes or arguments between family members.
