Sunan an-Nasai 3421 (Book 27, Hadith 33) #18033
Allah's Response to the Prophet's Reprimand

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) being reprimanded by his wives for drinking honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, and Allah revealing a verse in response to this.

'Ubaid bin 'Umair narrated from 'Aishah, the wife of the Prophet: "The Prophet used to stay with Zainab bint Jahsh and drink honey at her house. Hafsah and I agreed that if the Prophet came to either of us, she would say: 'I detect the smell of Maghafir (a nasty-smelling gum) on you; have you eaten Maghafir?' He came to one of them and she said that to him. He said: 'No, rather I drank honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, but I will never do it again'. Then the following was revealed: 'O Prophet! Why do you forbid (for yourself) that which Allah has allowed to you'. 'If you two turn in repentance to Allah, (it will be better for you)'. addressing 'Aishah and Hafsah; 'And (remember) when the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives'. refers to him saying: "No, rather I drank honey"".

QUICK LESSONS:
Trusting in God’s judgement, Not judging others without knowing all facts first .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Allah responded when two of His beloved prophet's wives reprimanded him for drinking honey at Zainab bint Jahsh's house. In response, Allah revealed a verse that reminded them that He had allowed it and asked them to repent if they were wrong in their reprimand. This teaches us that we should not be too quick to judge or criticize others without knowing all of the facts first. We should also remember that only Allah knows what is best for us and we should trust Him even if our loved ones don't agree with our decisions. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that repentance is always an option if we make mistakes or do something wrong; no matter how small or big it may be, we can always turn back to Him and ask for forgiveness.
