The Importance of Tranquility on Arafat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was encouraging people to remain calm and tranquil on the evening of Arafat.

It was narrated from Abu Ghaftan bin Tarif that he heard Ibn Abbas say: "When the Messenger of Allah departed he reined in his she-camel until its head touched the middle of his saddle, and he was saying to the people: 'Be tranquil be tranquil,' on the evening of Arafat".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحْرِزُ بْنُ الْوَضَّاحِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أُمَيَّةَ - عَنْ أَبِي غَطَفَانَ بْنِ طَرِيفٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، يَقُولُ لَمَّا دَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ شَنَقَ نَاقَتَهُ حَتَّى أَنَّ رَأْسَهَا لَيَمَسُّ وَاسِطَةَ رَحْلِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لِلنَّاسِ ‏ "‏ السَّكِينَةَ السَّكِينَةَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ

EXPLANATIONS:
On the evening of Yawm al-Arafah, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was riding his she-camel and reined it in until its head touched the middle of his saddle. He then called out to people around him to be tranquil or Salaamah. This hadith teaches us that we should remain peaceful and composed even in difficult situations. It is important for us to remember that Allah is always watching over us and will help us if we stay patient and trust Him. We should also strive to maintain a sense of tranquility in our lives so that we can better focus on our faith, relationships with others, and our goals in life.
