Sahih al-Bukhari 1825 (Book 28, Hadith 5) #1748
Refusing Gifts During Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) refused a gift from As-Sa'b bin Jath-thama Al-Laithi because he was in a state of Ihram.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: From As-Sa'b bin Jath-thama Al-Laithi that the latter presented an Onager to Allah's Messenger while he was at Al-Abwa' or at Waddan, and he refused it. On noticing the signs of some unpleasant feeling of disappointment on his (As-Sab's) face, the Prophet said to him, "I have only returned it because I am Muhrim".

QUICK LESSONS:
Obey Allah’s commands & Respect Islamic laws & teachings

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of adhering to the rules of ihram during Hajj. It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas and As-Sab bin Jaththama Al Laithi that the latter presented an Onager to Allah's Messenger while he was at Al Abwa or at Waddan. However, due to being in a state of ihram, the Prophet refused it. He did this out of respect for Allah's commands and laws which must be followed during Hajj. This hadith teaches us that we should always obey Allah's commands even if it means sacrificing something we desire or want. We should also remember that our actions have consequences and so we must think carefully before making any decisions or taking any action as it could lead us astray from our faith if not done correctly according to Islamic teachings.
